Comedian, Actress, TV Host, and Singer
Jessie Woo

Woo always knew stardom was in her future. As a young girl she knew she was meant to be on television! Growing up in an Haitian home Woo was “expected” to work a regular, secure job but she never placed herself in a box. Jessie’s mom always said “Jessie is going to do what she wants to do and she’s going to say what she wants to say.”

Which makes a lot of sense, with Woo admitting that hosting is a natural gift of hers. She loves discussions something that got her in lots of trouble in school, but not anymore! Now, she gets paid to speak on entertainment news, women’s issues, and more. Woo currently co-hosts Madame Noire’s’ Listen To Black Women, alongside co-hosts artist  Tiffany Nicole Ervin, journalist Taryn Finley and entrepreneur  Chris Miss. The women discuss relevant issues affecting Black women like dating, body positivity, business, representation in media, and more. With new episodes of season three out now, this season they highlight small business owners, the new Black Hollywood and more! This season they also bring on male co-hosts so the conversation isn’t one sided.

Outside of making appearances on Madame Noire, Woo can be found on Fox’s Dish Nation and VH1’s Wild N Out. Check out the full interview above to hear about Woo’s most recent project, a Haitian inspired web series loosely based on her upbringing. Woo discusses her journey to becoming viral and her transition to becoming a full time television host. We also play a short game on Woo’s dating green and red flags! Full interview can be found here and for more black entertainment news sign up for The Reel Effect newsletter!
