The Chi S6 – August 1 – Showtime
We’ve got The Chi returning to us with a 6th season! This drama series takes viewers on a compelling journey through the interconnected lives of residents on the South Side of Chicago, diving feet deep into their struggles, triumphs, and aspirations. For those of you ready to binge-watch this drama series, you should keep in mind that the season will be split in two. The first eight episodes are being released this month and the other half of the series are to be released at a later unknown date.
Reservation Dogs S3 – August 2 – Hulu
The FX series “Reservation Dogs” is back with another season! This thrilling show is an absolute saga of emotions, weaving tales that delve into the reality of indigenous life, the highs, the lows, the brutal history, and the beautifully infinite culture. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES– August 2 – Movie Theaters
If you’re a die-hard fan of the classic 1987 TV show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, you may want to add this movie to your list! The Turtle brothers are said to finally step out of their hidden world and into the bustling streets of New York City for the “first” time. With the help of their new friend, April O’Neil, they take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but things take a thrilling turn when an army of mutants threatens their world. You can head to theaters to be a part of this nostalgia-filled experience!
Painkiller – August 10 – Netflix
Mark your calendars for August 10th, for the release of the original Netflix television series “Painkiller,” featuring the lovely actress Uzo Aduba. Aduba plays the part of an investigator seeking the truth about a drug widely prescribed by America’s healthcare systems and its impact on families nationwide.
Killing It S2– August 17 – Peacock
The Peacock Original comedy series “Killing it” returns on August 17th for a second season. The series continues to explore themes of class, capitalism, and the relentless pursuit of the American Dream. Featuring comedian Craig Robinson, known for his role in “The Office”, this new season sheds light on the quirks of corporate American life. Making it a must-watch for those seeking both humor and insight.
Landscape with Invisible Hand – August 18 – Movie Theaters / Sony
This movie is a science fiction drama movie where two brave teens forge a daring plan to rescue their families from poverty and unemployment. One of those teens being Asante Blackk from the Netflix series “When They See Us”. Adding a touch of comedy to the mix, comedian Tiffany Haddish also graces the movie with her presence!
STAR WARS: AHSOKA – August 23 – Disney+
On August 23, we will be able to experience another thrilling Star Wars trilogy for an epic intergalactic adventure! Former Jedi knight, Ahsoka Tano, takes on the mission of investigating an emerging threat that looms over a vulnerable galaxy. Portrayed by the talented Rosario Dawson, Ahsoka’s journey promises thrilling action, captivating storytelling, and the timeless charm of the Star Wars universe. Star Wars: Ahsoka will only be available on Disney +.
Gran Turismo – August 25 – Movie Theaters / Sony
If you’re into heart-pounding films, Gran Turismo might be just up your alley! The movie follows a skilled gamer as he triumphs in a series of Nissan-sponsored video game competitions. Only to have his virtual prowess lead him to a remarkable real-life opportunity as a professional race car driver. The movie stars the talented British actor Archie Madekwe and David Harbour, from “Stranger Things”. I’m excited to see the two actors come together to bring excitement to the screen through this action-packed film. Check it out in the movies later this month!
