The Many Saints of Newark – October 1st – HBO

The anticipation is high for Sopranos lovers since the prequel to the six season series is here! The Many Saints of Newark shows you the childhood of Tony Soprano. Interestingly enough there is another story line that features a black rival to the New Jersey mobsters. Once a worker of Dickie Moltisanti, we see Harold McBrayer played by Leslie Odom Jr. become his own boss and wage war on the Soprano family.

One Of Us Is Lying – October 7th – Peacock

This new drama series, is based on Karen M. McManus’s New York Times best-selling novel, One of Us Is Lying. The story of what happens when five high schoolers walk into detention and only four make it out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide. Starring Annalisa Cochrane, Chibuikem Uche, Marianly Tejada, Cooper van Grootel, Barrett Carnahan, Chase Stokes, Mark McKenna, Melissa Collazo, Jessica McLeod, and more.

15 Minutes of Shame – October 7th – HBO Max

Executive produced by Monica Lewinsky and Max Joseph, this documentary breaks down the other side of cancel culture and how the internet and social media can be used to the extremes to cancel someone for their wrong doings. Taking a deep look into shaming culture and explores our collective need to destroy one another.

The Equalizer – October 10th – CBS

The Queen is back with season two of The Equalizer debuting on Sunday, October 10th. Queen Latifah plays Robyn McCall, a woman on a mission to help those that can’t help themselves. The crime drama also stars Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, Laya DeLeon Hayes, Lorraine Toussaint, and Chris Noth. Season two brings new characters, new obstacles, and new fight scenes as McCall fights to defend others and her family.

Dopesick – October 13th – Hulu

In this Hulu mini series that stars Rosario Dawson and Michael Keaton, we are taken down the sick and twisted road of the origins of the opioid crisis in America. Based on the journalist Beth Macy’s 2018 nonfiction book “Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America,” this series shows how Purdue Pharma marketed their drug OxyContin to pharmacies and doctors presenting it as a painkiller where less than 1% of patients become addicted to it, which we all know was a lie!

The Family Business – October 14th – BET+

Carl Webber’s The Family Business is set to release season three on October 14. The series is inspired by the Carl Webber best selling crime, drama book by the same name. The series follows the Duncans, a highly successful, upstanding family that owns an exotic car dealership by day, but by night they are into way more than car deals.

Phoebe Robinson: Sorry, Harriet Tubman – October 14th – HBO Max

2 Dope Queens star Phoebe Robinson is debuting her first stand up special on HBO Max. The comedian speaks about quarantining with her boyfriend, hosting Michelle Obama’s book tour, and more.

Ready To Love – October 15th – OWN

One of the hottest dating shows is coming back for season four, this time in Washington, DC! A group of singles are trying to find love in the Chocolate City in the most unconventional way. Tune into the newest season on OWN channel Friday, Oct 15. at 9/8c.

Just Lauryn – October 18th – Chasing Reality Youtube

If you’re familiar with the Chasing Reality franchise then you know Lauryn England from the first season of Chasing Reality: Atlanta! Now the entrepreneur, hairstylist, artist, and reality star has her own show speaking about her transition as a trans-woman.

Queens – October 19th – ABC

Scandal writer and executive producer, Zahir McGhee brought this new series to life. Queens is about a previous girl group that reunites after 20 years apart to rebuild their careers and friendships. Starring Eve, Naturi Houghton, Brandy, and Nadine Velazquez the series shows these four, 40-year -old women as they try to balance their old lives with their renewed fame. The pilot episode was directed by Tim Story and premieres Tuesday, October 19 at 10/9c.

The Harder They Fall – October 22nd – Netflix

Featuring a star studded cast, The Harder They Fall is probably our most anticipated release this fall. Starring Regina King, Idris Elba, Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beats, Lakeith Stanfield, Delroy Lindo, and MORE! This western drama follows a group of revenge seekers as outlaw Nat Love (Jonathan Majors) seeks revenge once he finds out his enemy Rufus Buck (Idris Elba) has escaped prison.

Invasion – October 22nd – Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is bringing us a new sci-fi, drama series about the title says it all, an alien invasion! Created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil the moments up to this alien invasion are seen through the eyes and perspectives of several different people from around the world. The series stars Shamier Anderson, Golshifteh Farahani, Firas Nassar, Sam Neil, and many more.

Insecure – October 24th – HBO

The fifth and final season of HBO’s acclaimed series, Insecure, is here and we are not ready! After four seasons of seeing Issa and Molly balance life, career, romance, and friendships we are left wondering what will happen to these characters. Unanswered questions from the previous season will surely be addressed like if Issa and Lawrence will stay together regardless of the newborn baby that he’s created with Condola. As well as, will Issa and Molly ever be on great terms again? The season premiere is Sunday, October 24 at 10/9c on HBO.

All American – October 25th – The CW

Season three left fans on edge as we pick right back up after the shooting of Coop, who is currently fighting for her life. This season we see how Coop’s family and friends deal with her uncertain recovery, and hope that Spencer can stay focused enough to garner his college scholarship. Season four premieres on Monday, October 25 on The CW at 8pm ET.

Love Life – October 28th – HBO Max

Season two of this HBO Max anthology picks up with new characters but the same object, finding love in a world thats hard to navigate at times. This romantic comedy follows William Jackson Harper as Marcus Watkins while he is almost forced back into the dating scene after he gets a divorce from the woman he thought was his soul mate.

Colin In Black And White – October 29th – Netflix

Brought to you by Ava Duvernay and her distribution company, ARRAY, this series featuring former NFL player, Colin Kapernick, highlights his life during high school and his journey to becoming an activist. The limited drama series stars Jaden Michael, Nick Offerman, Mary-Louise Parker, Colin Kaepernick, and more within its six episode season.
